This is a set of 4 Alphabet Clip Cards for kindergarten, preschool and 1st grade. Your students will practice identifying letters, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, identifying initial sounds and matching initial sounds and letters.

Alphabet Clip Cards can be used in alphabet centers, as a small group or individual activity and as an intervention exercise. They are also great for morning tubs and fast finishers.

Four sets of printable clip cards:

  • Set 1 - students will choose the lowercase letter that matches the uppercase letter.
  • Set 2 - students will choose the uppercase letter that matches the lowercase letter.
  • Set 3 - students will say the name of the picture and identify the initial sound and letter to match
  • Set 4 - students will name the letter, produce its sound and find the picture that starts with that sound.

You'll also receive instructions for preparing and using the clip cards in the classroom.

Please open the sample file at the top of this page for full details of what's included in this resource.

Two versions of the Alphabet Clip Cards are provided: a colored version and a black and white version. You choose how to print.

The colored version is provided to make colorful, bright and engaging clip cards. The black and white version is provided as a more economical way to print the cards. To make the black and white clip cards more appealing, consider adding color after printing. Students can be involved in doing this and will feel a sense of pride as they help to “create” the cards.

The Alphabet Clip Cards are super quick and easy to prepare. Simply print on cardstock, cut along the dotted lines and the cards are ready to use. To make the cards into a self-checking activity, simply mark the back of the correct answer on each card with a sticker or a colored dot. For extra durability, the cards can be laminated.
