I created an alphabet version of my daily phonics chants because I have found daily phonics chanting to be very helpful in my second grade classroom.
This PowerPoint presentation provides you with a quick and fun way to practice letter recognition and sound/symbol correspondence with your students. Sung to the tune of "Yankee Doodle", it is intended for daily use and is easy to work into your routine.
There are two slides for each letter. The first slide shows the letter in uppercase and lowercase form. The second slide has pictures and a phrase with words beginning with that letter. The song and phrases will stick with your auditory learners. The graphics will provide a hook for your visual learners. I suggest you use Tucker Reading signs, ASL letters or your own motions to incorporate a kinesthetic feature as well.
You will be amazed at how this quick, daily practice will help your students develop automaticity with their letter and sound skills! Your students will enjoy this so much as a brain break; they won't even realize they are learning!
Preschool and kindergarten classes can use this all year. First grade classrooms can use it at the beginning of the year or for remedial students.
TEACHER NOTES are placed at the end of the presentation, so the chant is always ready to go when you pull it up and start the slide show.
