Research has shown that alphabet sorts in the order of the alphabet is an effective way to teach children letter recognition. Doing letter sorts with different fonts enables students to see the differences and similarities of the same letter written different ways. This helps them really put a letter to memory in all of it’s different forms.
* Copy enough of the Blank letter sorting page for each student to have one. (or to laminate and use in a center)
* Copy the letter tiles that correspond with the sorting page and cut them out. (If you are using this as a center, you can copy one or two and laminate them for longer use)
* Students will take all of the letter times for a particular sort and the sorting page. They will take one letter at a time and place it in the corresponding column.
This packet provides 7 letter sorts.
