This resource is a nine page PDF resource of an alphabet sort.
There are three pages which have a box for each letter of the alphabet. On another page are 21 pictures of well-known animals. A teacher reference sheet is also included.
Students cut along the dotted lines so that they have 21 different animal pictures.
Students think about the beginning sound for each animal and place it in the correct box on the alphabet sheets. When they are happy with their choice, the animals can be glued on.
Alternatively, this resource could be used as a game over and over if the alphabet sheets and animals pictures are printed off and laminated.
The alphabet sheets have been provided twice in this resource (the ones at the end have no ‘name’ box on them) so that teachers can laminate these sheets if they want to use them for games.
This resource not only reinforces beginning sound learning, it could be used as a one-on-one assessment tool or a fun group activity. This resource can also be used by students with learning needs or students who are beginning to learn English.
Education Australia has other resources available for purchase.
