Do your kids need some extra practice with letter sounds? Are they tired of worksheets? Then Alphabet Exercise Scoot is just what you need!
Scoot! is a fun activity where students will travel from station to station or desk to desk to solve problems. It is a great activity to get students up and moving, while still practicing on academic skills. This one is EXTRA special because it includes EXERCISE!
This set also includes an emergent reader for the letter I, and adds a math component to your language arts studies!
Give each student a recording sheet. Students will start at their own desks (or an assigned spot) and answer the problem on their task card, writing the answer in the corresponding box on the record sheet. When students are finished, the teacher will say, “Scoot!” and students will move onto the next desk or station. They will continue to answer problems and move about the room until they get back to their own starting point. This set takes a little bit of set up:
1. Kids will need to have pencils/crayons available for this game.
2. Card 30 is a QR code. If you have ipads in your classroom, just set one next to the card. Kids can scan it and it will play the Letter song from havefunteaching.com. If you don't, just remove the card.
3. Card 2 says, "read your (letter) book." That book is included with the download so you will need to have one copy ready before you play the game.
4. Task 14 is meant to be read letter, letter, sound, sound, sound, word, word, word.
For the exercise cards - I did not put a number to the
exercise task. You can stipulate at the beginning - do ten of each exercise. For added challenge, have them count by fives or tens to 50 or 100. It's always great to get math and LA in the same game!
Scoot! games can also be used as task cards at a center.
