My students LOVE write the room activities! It gives them a chance to get up and move around the room while being engaged in learning! It's perfect for your writing station AND it's easy prep! This packet provides a write the room activity for each letter of the alphabet.
This packet includes: 298 picture cards in color (12 cards for each letter except for: q- 10 pictures, x – 8 pictures, y – 8 pictures, z – 8 pictures)
298 black and white picture cards5 Recording Sheets for each letter of the alphabet. Students write the words to match each picture on the recording sheet. I have included a variety of recording sheets to allow for differentiation and to meet the different handwriting instruction needs.
Recording Sheets included:
1) blank box : students write the words to match each picture
2) trace the word on primary lined paper
3) blank primary lined paper to record each word
4) trace the word on Handwriting Without Tears lined paper
5) blank Handwriting Without Tears to record each word
Print, laminate and cut apart the picture cards.
Hang the picture cards around the room.
Students get a clipboard and a recording sheet. They walk around the room and look for the picture cards. When a card is found the students record the word on their record sheet.
To make this a little more exciting, I allow my students to use colored pencils or markers. Each word is written in a different color. They record the word using the same color that is on the card.
Another option is to place the cards in a reading station. Students choose a card and record the word on their recording sheet. I found an old Operation Brain Surgery head and place the cards inside. My students love drawing cards out of the head! Don’t have a head? No worries! Just place the cards in a bag. Leftover gift bags work great!
