In my classroom we read the alphabet linking chart daily during whole group and small group instruction. We say the letter name, letter sound and the picture/word that begins with the letter (a, /a/, apple). Once my students recognize and identify all the letters and sounds we move on to the consonant cluster chart.
In this packet, I have provided two versions of the alphabet chart based on Fountas and Pinnell's linking charts. The first version contains one picture per consonant and vowel. The second version contains 2 pictures for the vowels (long sound and short sound) and 2 pictures for c and g (hard and soft sound). I have also provided a color and black and white chart of each.
In order to keep the linking charts exciting, my students choose a voice to read the chart with! They LOVE using different voices! I choose one student to be the leader of the linking chart. That student chooses a voice card and leads the class in a choral reading of the chart. 18 voice cards are included!
I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!
