In this resource you'll get:
- 3 Mats: 1 Uppercase, 1 Lowercase, and 1 Blank
- 26 Initial Sound Picture Cards + 2 "POP" Cards
- 26 Letter Matching Cards + 2 "POP" Cards
This resource would be great for guided reading groups, centers, or even intervention groups depending on the time of the school year!
Suggested Use & How To Play:
Print the 28 wand cards onto colored paper, laminate, cut around the circle, hot glue to a popsicle stick to resemble a bubble wand. Select an upper/lower case mat and print onto colored paper, too. Place into a sleeve. For the game pieces: you can use any manipulative, mini eraser, even an expo to cover the match on the game-board. For my personal use, I plan on using those little garden gems from Dollar Tree (two colors: clear, blue) and placing them into an old bubble container just to make it more engaging for my students!
Pick a set of cards and game-board (depending on current needs) mix up wands & place in a bucket/cup. Students will take turns pulling a wand and (either) making the sound of the picture or circling the matching letters (use an expo on the wand). Once the student has found the match on the mat (for the card), he/she will cover the letter (on the mat) with a counter. If the student pulls a “POP” wand, a counter will need to be taken off the game-board. The player with the most matches at the end of the game wins!
I hope you and your students ENJOY and get some letter/sound practice in!! Please leave any comments or feedback about yours and/or your students reaction to this resource! Thank you so much for your download!
