Students can work on fine motor skills and correct pencil grip while reinforcing letter names, sounds, and anchor words for the 26 letters of the alphabet as well as the sh, th, ch, and wh digraphs using this Pokey Pin set.
Preparation is easy. Simply copy the Pokey Pin sheets and cut in half. Then staple each one to a half sheet of construction paper. Students work on the carpet and use a push pin to poke holes in the letters, picture, word, and border. Afterward, students peel back the Pokey Pin sheet and are amazed at the results. The end result looks even cooler when taped to a sunny window!
When working on Pokey Pins my students are focused and engaged, allowing me to work with other children in small groups.

Digraphs included are: sh - shark; th - thumb; ch - chick; wh - whale
