This resource is geared towards younger pupils and SEN pupils. It is to be used to reinforce alphabetical order. It is based on the lower case letters of the alphabet.
There are 13 cards containing sequences of six letters of the alphabet in both files of this resource. The object is that pupils have to firstly identify the missing letter in the sequence and then to find the picture that begins with that letter and place it in the missing space.
Cut out the cards, the answers base card, the small picture cards and the alphabet reference card and laminate all. Affix Velcro to the blank boxes on the alphabet sequence cards, to all the blank boxes on the answers base board and to the rear of the small picture cards. Place all the small pictures randomly on the answers base board.
On each alphabet sequence card, there is a missing letter. Using their knowledge of the alphabet, or using the alphabet reference card contained in the resource, pupils have to work out what the missing letter is, find the picture on the answer base board that starts with that letter and place it on the alphabet sequence card.
This activity could be done on a on-to-one teaching basis or it could equally be used at a literacy station during Station Teaching. You could also use the black/white version for a cut and paste pupil activity.
There is a coloured version and a black/white version included in each file in this resource and teachers can print out whichever version they wish.
