Use this guide with videos and/or article readings to have students connect the topic of the material to what they already know, what they learn from the resource, and to turn and talk with a classmate (or a few classmates) about what they learned or have questions remaining about the topic. It is my twist on doing a KWL chart or graphic organizer that goes beyond just an individual student or a whole class chart. This will facilitate connecting to prior knowledge (AK), pulling important details from the resource while reading with a purpose (NTM), and collaborating and communicating with peers about the resource (WDYS). After completing individually and in pairs/small groups, use to have a whole class discussion or fill in a whole class chart. This can serve as a jumping off point for many different follow up assignments or group activities.
