Quite the description for one tennis trailblazer, Althea Gibson!

I created this product so that students could learn more about her great accomplishments, and of the course that it took to reach such heights. Althea Gibson is a trailblazer in history. Her willingness to keep going and to follow her dreams in spite of her circumstances, is a wonderful lesson that each of us can learn from. Black History Month is a wonderful time to study and celebrate her, but truly, her accomplishments can be celebrated at any time of the year.

~To compliment a unit on sports/athletics

First Grade students- with or without support depending upon the strength of their independent reading and/or comprehension skills.
Second Grade students
Third Grade students whose reading or reading for comprehension skills may not be as strong at this time.

~Print a few copies in color, laminate them, and place them in a Center for students to complete. Place copies of pages that students need to write on in sheet protectors.
~Uploaded to an application on an iPad for interactive reading and writing
