Challenge your students to design and build an aluminum foil boat that holds the most mass! Your students will absolutely love competing with one another as they learn about engineering and buoyancy. All you need is aluminum foil, a bucket with water and some way to test to see how much mass the boats hold. Some ideas include: count the number of pennies or place small objects inside the boat until it sinks and then weigh them using a scale.
