Amadeus is an Academy Award winning film based on the stage play by Peter Shafer. It depicts the life of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and focuses on a fictionalized conspiracy by Antonio Salieri to murder Mozart and steal his work. The film won eight Academy Awards in 1984, including Best Picture. Mozart's music is featured extensively in the soundtrack. The film is 161 minutes long, so it will take several days to complete.
The theatrical release is rated PG, but it does include some mature elements including language, sensuality, crude humor, and a brief glimpse of a man's naked posterior. Accordingly, this film is most appropriate for high school students or mature 8th graders. When purchasing the film be sure to avoid the Director's Cut edition, which is rated R and includes full-frontal nudity.
