Students will conduct research about various aspects of Pakistan, its history, culture, and society, and they will use the scrapbook to creatively document their learning. The activity will aid students’ comprehension by creating a foundation for understanding the the novel’s content and context. They will not be wondering about the references characters are making. They will already have the knowledge that allows them to deeply engage with the text.

Amal Unbound: Passport to Learning - Read Aloud and Comprehension Resources!: With the “Passport to Learning”, students will deeply engage with the novel to develop a variety of reading and literary skills. These skills are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Plus, in mastering them, the passport provides a fun way for students to track their progress. They will see how repeatedly focusing on key skills helps them understand the novel while taking them on a fun learning journey. The lessons focus on a particular skill and have students engage with the novel to develop their literary proficiency in that skill. Amal Unbound: Literary Analysis, Discussion Questions, Answer Key – 17 Assignments: The 17 literary analysis assignments provide a framework for students to complete a deep analysis of each chapter set for Amal Unbound. Each assignment is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. They are designed not only to have students practice literary skills but also demonstrate their comprehension of the text.
