"Amaterasu", a Japanese myth cycle, tells of the Sun Goddess and her tumultuous relationship with her brother Susanowo. She reluctantly allows him to visit and together, they have an evening of dancing, singing, and feasting. While she sleeps, his resentment builds and he destroys the plain of heaven. She sees his betrayal and runs away to hide her radiance in a cave. The people sing to her not of melancholy but of joy. Curious, she comes out of hiding, and sees her own glory and realizes her beauty. With a cast of four, "Amaterasu", tells the joyful tale of self-knowledge and self-acceptance.
