Description

This is a week-long unit by Reading Through History that is geared towards reading test preparation for the 5th grade reading test. This download includes lessons covering the history of the of some of America's most amazing astronauts. The package includes biographies of Chuck Yeager, Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Sally Ride. It also includes 23 pages of student activities that involve: constructed response paragraphs, vocabulary activities, a timeline activity, a compare and contrast section, and multiple choice quizzes to gauge reading comprehension. Every reading topic also includes questions geared toward the 4th and 5th grade Common Core literature and reading standards. Objectives include Key Ideas, Range of Reading, Key Ideas and Details, Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity, Writing, and Fluency. The packet includes everything a social studies or reading teacher would need to cover a week of class time.
