Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Write eight words from the word cards. Underline the consonant blends. They also must list other words that are not on the word cards with each consonant blend (spl, thr, squ, str, scr).
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students pick six word card words to say them out loud. Build the words using letter tiles or magnetic letters. Write sentences using each of the six words.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the friendly letter poster to help student remember what a friendly letter is). Students write a friendly letter as a character in Tops & Bottoms telling what the character has been doing. They must be sure to include a date, salutation, and closing.
Pages 19-21: Words To Know: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students list eight vocabulary words on one side of the chart. On the other side of the chart, list the antonyms for each word.
Page 22: Read For Meaning (Read a Leveled Reader. Write one sentence to tell why the author wrote the story. Write two sentences that give details explaining your answer.
Page 23: I included a portion of Amazing Bird Nests for students to read for fluency.
