This non-fiction beginning reader is the life-cycle of the little bats that use echolocation to hunt insects. I have purposely embedded some synonyms in the text. Since this is a life-cycle text, it lends itself very well to sequencing activities.
I feel this text is most appropriate for second or third grade, however, there will be some high first graders who would enjoy a text like this one. Lower level fourth graders might also benefit from this reader.
I included a little paper bat craft with simple directions that is well-suited to even being a graphic organizer to list bat facts. It would be a nice addition to an interactive notebook or as a stick puppet.
