I use this activity with my third graders. I play The Amazing Race theme song while my students work on this important skill. I play the theme song through YouTube. In the beginning I have my students work with a partner and take turns writing the number that comes next. You can run it as a race or just tell them to work quickly with their partner. After completing the page I have one student be the reader and the other student is the checker. The reader reads each number while the checker puts a checkmark for each correct answer. If there are any errors, they correct them together. I fill out a sheet and shine it up with my projector for students to use as an answer key. I think it is good practice for students to read the numbers and it is beneficial for your auditory learners to hear the numbers being read. I do this activity twice a week for a few weeks. After a few weeks your students should be able to complete the practice sheets for adding and subtracting 10 and 100. I use the pages with less boxes for one-on-one intervention. I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do.
