Reading response: The student will read regularly in independent-level materials. The student will read to accomplish various purposes assigned and will be able to discuss meanings of words and develop vocabulary. The student will be able to apply prior knowledge to anticipate meaning and make sense of text assigned.
English/language arts response: Student will respond appropriately and courteously to directions and questions. Be able to decode by using all letter-sound correspondences within a word. Will use structural cues such as prefixes and suffixes to recognize words, and read both regular and irregular words automatically such as through multiple opportunities to read and reread.
