This activity is a review for Algebra I or 7th/8th grade math 9 weeks or end of the first semester.
Topics covered: Find the slope of a line given two points, find the slope and y-intercept of a line given an equation in slope-intercept form, rewrite an equation from standard form to slope-intercept form, evaluate a functions for certain x-values, write the equation of a line given the slope and y-intercept, write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form when given two points, rewrite the equation of a line from slope-intercept form to standard form, solve an inequality in one-variable and graph on a number line, solve a compound inequality in one variable and graph on a number line
I place the problems all over the room, students are in partners and "travel the world" together. After each problem (in a different city), they are to check their answers with me - it is their "passport," and if they are right, then I stamp their paper and they move on to another city. The kids really enjoy it - it keeps them moving - and engaged at their own pace!
