This is by far the funnest activity I did with my students all year! I wanted my fifth graders to be able to go all around the school on a "farewell tour" before moving on to middle school. It was also a great motivation for students to complete and turn in missing work. I happen to love the TV show "The Amazing Race," so I designed the whole activity around the items used on the show. Students are given clues that lead them to different teachers and staff members around the school until the clues lead them back to their classroom!
Included in this packet are:
-Detailed teacher directions
-Spreadsheet to organize clues
-Templates for clues and envelope covers
-Directions and rules for students
-Fanny pack labels and materials
-Sample pictures of how my projects looked when set up
EVERYTHING is fully editable so you can tailor it to suit your needs!
This would be fun for any age, not just 5th grade! The older students get, the more they would be able to handle the independence of the activity. It can be adapted to any grade or subject. For example, I put 1/4 sheets of paper inside the envelopes with science questions on each page because I needed another science test grade. It could also be used as a review tool before standardized testing or just a fun way to wrap up the year after you are done taking grades.
You can put anything you want your students to complete inside the envelopes...the possibilities are endless!
