This activity is a review activity for Algebra I or 7th/8th grade math.
*You do need to draw in a line for Beijing graphs*
Topics covered: finding the slope when given two points, recognizing the slope and y-intercept of a line in slope-intercept form, listing the quadrant points lie in, finding x and y intercepts of a line in standard form, drawing lines with given slopes, graphing lines with specific intercepts, finding missing coordinates when given a point, x-coordinate, and slope, determining whether lines are parallel
I place the problems all over the room, students are in partners and "travel the world" together. After each problem (in a different city), they are to check their answers with me - it is their "passport," and if they are right, then I stamp their paper and they move on to another city. The kids really enjoy it - it keeps them moving - and engaged at their own pace!
