What is the Amazing Race to STAAR?
The Amazing Race to STAAR is similar to the TV Show. Students will work within teams to answer questions and challenges over a 7 day period. Student teams are racing to be the first team finished with their group’s leg of the race/math topic for the day. We recommend having 7 one-hour blocks of time for students to complete 1 leg of the race each day. A leg of the race is one math topic. The legs of the race are shown in the list below:
Legs of the Race/Math Topic:
Whole Numbers & Decimals
Solving Word Problems
In this game students are divided up into 7 teams. That means that one team is working on each leg of the race everyday.
Each day students will work within their teams to answer 15 questions. Once a team has answered all of the questions, they will check their answers. The answer foldables contain pieces to a game, puzzle, or clue that students will use to find their final destination for the day. Once students have figured out their clue, they head to that location within your school. The first team back for the day wins a prize.
**You can use the coupons included or you may come up with your own prizes. The real winners are all of the students. We chose to have any teams that finished a leg of the race each day get a smaller prize, and the 1st place team got double the prize or a better prize.
This game includes 105 STAAR formatted questions for all the Reporting Categories as well as all the printables to make the games.
Please download the Preview to see pictures of the games that you can make.
This product is an awesome tool to Review for STAAR 2 weeks before the test or throughout the school year. It would be a great resource to use in summer school as well! The questions can also be used as Task Cards if you do not want to make the games included.
