  • The features used in this resource include article, bold print, bulleted list, caption, close-up, diagram, fact box, graph, illustration, italics, label, map, photo, pronunciation, and title.
  • The magazine articles are about the location of the Amazon, the river, the sloth, jaguar, green anaconda, a snake comparison, the Heliconia flower, and the rainforest canopy.

The set of 68 task cards has many unique features:

  • Multiple choice cards include: determining the type of nonfiction text feature in the article, determining the purpose of the nonfiction text feature, and basic comprehension questions.
  • The brightly colored backgrounds for the task cards are color-coded: green for multiple-choice cards concerning text features and blue for multiple-choice cards concerning comprehension questions.
  • The card frames are black and white to help with printing. For your convenience, a complete set of the reading selections and task cards with limited color is included to save on printing costs!
