PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

From Electric English...
Words! Words! Words! Getting students to understand that word choice is paramount to understanding a writer's purpose should be one of the ultimate goals for English teachers. This is a short activity designed to have your crew consider the ideas of connotation and denotation :) Why do people have certain associations with words? Why do certain words make people feel a specific way? Why are words such an integral part of what makes an individual? This activity asks the students to consider these ideas in a fun, captivating way by creating their own definitions for a couple of words using Bierce's satirical dictionary as a model, and then sharing their definitions with their peers.
