This biographical resource about Amelia Earhart is designed as an informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. It can be equally utilized in an ELA class or a Social Studies class and is perfect for Women’s History Month.

The first three texts are approximately 340 words in length (with a pre-reading question) and the last passage is just over 500 words (it has no pre-reading question). The passages are:
Part 1 – An Introduction to Amelia
Part 2 – Amelia Grows Up
Part 3 – Amelia Learns to Fly
Part 4 – Amelia, World Aviator

Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and grammar work. All four passages have a short creative writing assignment and each is illustrated with a photograph. There are a total of 12 student pages and 8 answer key pages.
