This course was an semester-long elective I used to teach. Throughout the semester students completed 4-5 projects around the theme "what makes an American character." Each project has students using different skills (i.e., research, expository writing, persuasive writing, creative writing, informal presentations, formal presentations, creating PowerPoints) so there is a variety of activities. In addition each project focuses on different subjects. The folder contains the projects for semester 1 and then for semester 2. You can pick and choose which ones you want to use or have students choose which ones they want. Topics include poetry, music, Abraham Lincoln, Boeing (or other American companies), "Brave Companions" by David McCullough, Mark Twain, and Space Exploration--which can be easily adapted to another topic of interest. A variety of assessments (i.e., tests, presentations) are included and answer keys and scoring rubrics are also included. The course syllabus and agendas as well as resource documents are also included. NOTE: Each project is also sold separately in my store.
