This is a 16 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on the American Civil War - Battle of Gettysburg - Pickets Charge. Each of the slides are editable so you can change it to fit your individual needs.
On the Final day of the Battle of Gettysburg General Robert E. Lee concentrated his full strength against Major General George G. Meade’s Army of the Potomac to break the middle of the Union line. This attack on the middle became known as “Pickett’s Charge.”
The charge involved an infantry assault of approximately 12,500 Confederate soldiers against Union troops' positioned along Cemetery Ridge, manned by some 6,500 Federals. The assault would take the nine brigades of Confederate soldiers over three-quarter mile of open ground susceptible to cannon fire the entire time.
It turned out to be a "slaughter" for the Union since the confederates had to March over an open field with no cover against withering cannon and musket fire.
The presentation covers the following:
Gettysburg: Day One
Gettysburg: Day Two
Gettysburg: Day Three
Preparing the Attack
Lt. General James Longstreet
Daunting Task Ahead
Under Fire & Payback
High Tide of the Confederacy
Pickett’s Final Thoughts
End of Presentation
This is a great companion presentation to the Battle of Gettysburg that I currently offer. It is also one of several "companion" power point presentations I offer under the heading .... American Civil War.
