In need of a culminating project for your American Civil War unit?

Included in this 5 page document are instructions and a grading rubric for making a set of six Civil War Journal Entries. Students can choose from six topics to write one paragraph entry, or they can be assigned all six entries, which cover all the years of the conflict. Choices of topics range from surviving major Civil War battles like Antietam to famous events like the Emancipation Proclamation to why the student-soldier joined up and what happens after the Confederacy surrenders. Five to six questions guide the student through writing their entries. A rubric is included for your use.

A creative way for students to show their expertise on the Civil War!
