This project will help your students learn what it was like to live in a colony. They can research by reading summaries of different parts of a colony. There are opportunities on each for little tasks that lead to group discussion. For example, they have to design a wig they would have worn back then and where they would have worn it. I have also included a part where they can choose which part of the colony they would like to "build." I have added blank templates for buildings, but you may have your students just construct their own. After they build their part of the colony, they have to persuade their peers (by writing a persuasive paragraph) that their part is very important to the colony. Once everyone shares their part, the colony is assembled onto a big board. My class really enjoyed doing this project and it helped them understand what colonial life was like! **In case you have already purchased my "4th Grade Social Studies Pack," this is already included.
Included in this pack:
-Persuasive paragraph page
-10 pages of summaries of different trades like "The Cabinet Maker"
-9 pages of buildings to use when making the colony including a courthouse
-Examples of some cute colonial buildings!
