Want an engaging, interactive way for students to articulate their ideas, generate new thinking, and consider different perspectives on the American dream in today's society? This lesson is a spin-off of my popular Speed Debating Activity
and it's so much fun! It's the perfect way to practice discussion/debate in a low-risk setting, and it helps you hit those speaking and listening standards, too!
In this activity, students will rotate through different peers and discussion prompts to consider different aspects of the American dream. Each round of discussion will build to their understanding of the American dream.
I teach a mini-unit on the American dream in my junior-level American literature course, because this theme serves as the foundation for my entire course. During our unit, we examine the dream and its meaning in today's society. This activity is what we do as a form of pre-writing before an essay on the American dream.
When you purchase this activity, you will receive the following:
-Student Recording Sheet
-18 Discussion Prompt Cards
-A Blank Set of Discussion Prompt Cards
