This is a game I made to review all Social Studies content for state testing. It is written to address the Oklahoma Academic Standards/Common Core Standards for 5th grade but it will meet the needs of any state using Common Core Social Studies Standards for American history.
The topics covered in the game include geography and terms, American history from Jamestown to the Constitution, and US government and documents.
While I wrote the game for 5th grade, several of the 6 categories cover content taught in 3rd and 4th grades as well.
The game has 6 categories with 30 questions each for a total of 180 questions. The word document is set up to print on business cards (10 per sheet; print two sided) but a cheaper option would be to print them on cardstock (print two sided) and cut them out on the light grey lines. If you print them front to back, the category will be on the front and the questions will be on the back.
The answer for each question is underlined on the card.
I run this game just like Trivial Pursuit. I even use the Trivial Pursuit pie pieces from an old game as my markers. This is the easiest way for groups to "earn" pieces by successfully answering a question from each category.
However - I am also uploading a free printable game card and pieces you can use if you would rather make your own.
This is a big game, but I and several colleagues have used it for years and have found it to extremely beneficial for test prep. As the students listen to the questions, they review (and in some cases, learn) the material. This game has had a very positive effect on our SS state assessment scores. I hope it helps you meet your goals too!
