Every important historical battle, person, or event is included in this timeline. Each 8.5x11 piece of paper includes a large picture/visual, a date, and a brief description/name/event that happened that year. These events are the most frequently covered/important events in American History dating back to the Ice Age. There are many events for you to pick from to help your class get excited about learning. This worked well for students who were ELL or Sped. because it gave them a visual of who we were talking about. It also gave them a reference point and face/image to associate with their knowledge which provided them with memory sparking image in the classroom to activate their knowledge during a test/quiz.
I have used this tool to create a large timeline around my room. These look incredible when they are printed on paper or card stock, backed with bright construction paper and laminated for many years of use. My students loved watching the time line grow as we explored our way through the many years of American History.
I hope you enjoy this great visual and resource- It will save hours of time searching for visuals for each historical event.
