This is a curriculum map for a United States History course starting with early English settlements through Reconstruction. Each unit is done in Understanding By Design (UBD) format. All unites have essential questions and understandings, skills, knowledge, assessments, and common core standards. It was made to fit Indiana 8th grade standards, but easily meets the middle school standards in other states. Included with the map are the following projects: 13 colonies research project, Colonial acts and propaganda project, founding fathers interview project, civil war newscast project, and westward expansion magazine project. All projects contain descriptions, instructions, and a rubric. This product also contains the following exams: 13 colonies/French and Indian War exam, age of exploration exam, Civil War exam, Reconstruction exam, and Revolutionary War Exam. The exams contain answer keys and can be copied and pasted into a Word document to be edited. This product offers a great scope and sequence for the first half of American History through the Reconstruction era. it also offers a number of prepared projects with rubrics and a number of unit exams.
