Description

Over 100 pages of material include 16 easy-to-assemble posters about Federal American holidays that provide information about their origins and traditions. Writing and grammar activities plus 5 suggestions for orally discussing the holidays are also provided. Written in acrostic poem format, these holiday posters are ideal for English Language Learners and all your other students, too!

✓ Please note:

These posters are also available in smaller sets with 4 posters in each resource:

* Posters for January & February are available HERE.

* Posters for March, April & May are available HERE.

* Posters for June, July & September are available HERE.

* Posters for October and November are available HERE.

Also, the Earth Day poster is available as a free sampler; however, it does not contain the writing and grammar activities that are included in the paid product. If you would like to download the poster only, please click HERE.

Two writing tasks are included:

* Students invent a holiday and write an acrostic poem about it

* Students select and then describe how they celebrate one of the holidays

A grammar task to rewrite the text on the posters by including the definite article "the" is also included.

Blank acrostic poem templates for each holiday are provided so students can also write their own poems about the holidays.

The discussion topics can be used with both native English speakers and English Language Learners, including ELLs at a beginning level of proficiency.

A page listing the ELA Common Core standards is included for the convenience of teachers working in Common Core states.
