Product Description
This is an engaging inquiry-based activity that allows students to consider the effects of American Imperialism. I use this as culminating activity after studying American overseas expansion, the Spanish-American War, and changes to American foreign policy.

Students will complete centers considering American expansion and its effects in the following places: Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and Panama.

Students will read primary sources, secondary sources, maps, infographics, and current event articles. Students will use the sources to answer guided reading and analysis questions. Finally, in conclusion, students will complete a writing prompt to summarize their findings on the role of the United States as a world power using evidence from the sources.

Make a class set of the instructions and passages/sources. Make a copy of each question page for students.
