Students will use Inductive Learning to identify commonalities between characters they have already studied from American short stories and novels. If your class has not covered the list suggested in the lesson plan, please feel free to include characters discussed in your own classroom. Make sure, however, they can be identified as round, flat, static, or dynamic. After grouping the characters with no guidance, students will share the ways in which they grouped the characters to eventually lead to the lesson. To practice what is learned, students will be assigned "Winter Dreams" by F. Scott Fitzgerald and complete a graphic organizer identifying round, flat, static, and dynamic characters.
