In this role-play activity your students will research an individual from the early nineteenth century and then compete against one another in a quest to be named the "Greatest American of the Early Nineteenth Century". The most convincing student will be photographed to adorn the cover of TIME WARP magazine. The students will also research two other famous Americans of the same time period and serve as a reference for those individuals as they also try to earn the same honor.
This activity is geared toward American Reformers of the 19th Century, but it can be modified for any American of the early 19th Century.
Student skills addressed: research, role-play, interview, public speaking, team-work.
