This is the first part of an American Revolution Unit designed to build background knowledge over an eight day period. Students will listen to an online video, read articles and excerpts from two nonfiction texts (If I Were There When they Signed the Constitution by Elizabeth Levy and Benjamin Franklin by Ingri and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire), and participate in a reader's theater (Unite or Die: How Thirteen States Became a Nation). Skills include analyzing poetry, plays, and nonfiction text; text structure; inferencing; vocabulary and context clues. The objectives, materials, procedure, and evaluation are included for each lesson daily. Two assessments are also given. Please feel free to adapt and let me know what you think.
