The third part of the unit is a lesson plan about writing a historical narrative. The narrative will be a diary entry written from the point of view of a soldier during the American Revolution. Students will analyze examples. Then, they will go through the entire writing process (prewrite, rough-draft, edit, revise, publish) to write their own. Students will recount the experience in front of the class using toy army men. They must utilize doman-specific vocabulary and demonstrate historical details and facts. A rubric is provided for evaluation.
