Product Description
The following is a DBQ on the American Revolution. It includes 9 documents that each have scaffolding questions. The Task asks students to:

Using the information from the documents and your knowledge of social studies, answer the following questions that follow each document in PART A. Your answers to the questions will help you write the PART B essay to which you will be asked to:

- Identify and discuss at least TWO [2] ways the American colonists protested against Britain before declaring their independence.

- Identify and discuss at least TWO [2] economic reasons for declaring independence from Britain.

- Identify and discuss at least TWO [2] political reasons for declaring independence from Britain.

I have also included the 0-5 Scoring Rubric New York State uses on DBQs for the regents exams. This rubric could apply to any state that requires students to complete DBQs.

This assignment could be used for: in class DBQ practice, homework, extra support or enrichment activity, or even as part of a unit test.

I have used this essay in my middle school classroom for 5+ years. It has been very successful!
