This activity is an ideal way to begin a class discussion on the ideas of the Enlightenment and/or the ideas that spurred the American Revolution.
Students work in pairs to rank, in order of importance, ten different "Enlightenment Concepts" (self-reliance, liberty, security, etc.) at the time of the American Revolution and then work to re-rank the same concepts by the standards of our modern democracy.
Ideal for US Government, US History, Civics, World History, and Political Science classes.
A discussion guide and detailed directions are included.
