This set features vocabulary from the Revolutionary War.
I like to print the cards on colored cardstock for durability. Once cut, I place them in ziplock bags. Students can work with the cards individually, in partners, in groups, or as a whole class activity. I typically use them once during the chapter and then again as a station to review. The cards and the student directions/ handout for memory and matching are included.
To play memory, students should shuffle the cards, lay them out upside down in rows and then take turns picking two cards. If they match word to definition, they keep the pair and go again. The player with the most matches at the end wins. Another variation is to leave the cards turned face up and just have students match word to definition.
The words/ definitions coincide with the Access U.S. History textbook, but could be used/ adapted for other texts.
