Description

Students utilize this social studies resource to practice research skills and cite evidence while learning about the American Revolution. Students receive support from the embedded online web and video links and instructions for each slide. This history resource is for students in grades 3 - 5.

HOW IT WORKS

Teach the American Revolution social studies content, then use this digital notebook for practice while integrating research and writing skills.

  • Use it as a traditional Interactive Notebook.
  • Use it one slide at a time to complement a particular lesson on the American Revolution.
  • Use it as independent work such as a classroom project or homework.

One slide includes 15 HYPERLINKS to trusted, reliable, kid-friendly free sites that the students can use for research and information gathering in conjunction with the print resources you provide. Some are print only, some are video sites, and some are a mix of various media.

The Interactive Digital Notebook includes most of the important events, people, and places of the American Revolution.

  • The Boston Massacre
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • Paul Revere’s Ride
  • Causes of the American Revolution
  • Flags of the American Revolution
  • Major battles
  • Role of women
  • Founding Fathers
  • Map of the colonies
  • Timeline of the American Revolution and much more!

HOW WILL STUDENTS INTERACT WITH THE DIGITAL NOTEBOOK?

On some slides, the student will drag interactive pieces to

  • identify the 13 colonies on a map
  • Construct a timeline
  • piece together puzzles of the major battles
  • the sequence of Paul Revere’s ride
  • match an event to the city in which it happened
  • match cause and effect
  • and more!

On other slides, the student will write to

  • describe what is happening at the Boston Tea Party
  • a summary of what happened at the Boston Massacre
  • contributions of the Founding Fathers
  • comparing and contrasting British and American troops
  • explaining points of view
  • paraphrasing or explaining parts of the Declaration of Independence
  • describing the flags of the American Revolution
  • and more!

Culminating slides/activities include writing

  • an opinion
  • an informative essay
  • a fictional narrative

Each slide is paired with a Common Core State Standard for English Language Arts for grades 3 - 5 so that you can integrate it with Language Arts. All student slides have interactivity involving dragging, matching, or writing.
