This is a full lesson plan for a writing activity. After students read a unit on the American Revolution, they can contemplate the sides that each soldier would take about their experience in battle. The students will have the choice of writing letters or writing poems. They take the perspective of the colonist soldier, then the perspective of the Redcoat soldier. The project is great for comparing/contrasting, seeing different points of view, and analyzing different aspects of the battle.
The lesson includes a direction sheet/checklist for the students.
You can use parchment-looking paper to add even more fun to the activity. CCSS are included in the lesson plan.
