This product compares the Continental and the British armies at the start of the Revolutionary War.
When war broke out between the American colonists and the British Empire, the challenge of the colonists taking on the world super power was overwhelming. Untrained and with inadequate supplies, the colonists used the few strengths they had to their advantage as the war unfolded.
Your students will view three primary source paintings, via PowerPoint, to start the lesson which will give them an introduction to the power of the British military. They will answer questions based on what they observe in each painting. Next, using a class set summary of strengths and weaknesses of both sides, students complete a comparison chart. This can lead to a class discussion of which weaknesses and strengths are the most critical for the colonists and the British.
