This project is something that I assign in our American Revolution unit in my US History I classes, which are with 10th graders. I give my students one (for my honors classes) or two class periods (for my ICS classes). This project allows students to analyze the causes of the war, the key events and people, the impact the war had both on individuals and families, the outcome of the war, and how the war changed the American landscape forever. Students are able to do this in a creative, hands-on way that my students (and I am sure your students) love!
My students get really into it every year, I have included in the sample a picture of a student sample from one of the entries, as well as one of the four brainstorming sheets (the rest of them are included in the product). I assess it a little differently when considering Honors students vs. ICS students but regardless this project is something that all of my students excel with. I have actually used a similar version of this project in my US History II class with the Vietnam War and it worked great there too.
Enjoy and please give me feedback, I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching and my products!
