UNIT 6: AMERICAN REVOLUTION IN SOUTH CAROLINA
The American Revolution in SC is a comprehensive eleven-day instructional unit focused on the causes and events of the American Revolution, particularly in SC. This package includes:
1) American Revolution in SC Unit Lesson Plans:
~Plans are written in Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) format. Each day includes a SC social studies spiral review, Learning Objective, Activating Prior Knowledge (APK) activity, Essential Question, Mini Lesson, Guided Practice activity, Independent Practice activity, and Active Closure activity.
2) American Revolution in SC Unit PowerPoint:
~This PowerPoint contains 205 slides for you to teach the entire unit.
3) Graphic Organizers:
~Throughout this unit, your students will complete a Causes of the American Revolution Cause and Effect sheet, a Battles of the American Revolution sheet, and a Heroes of the American Revolution sheet.
~Five days worth of homework that utilize the study guides and class notes.
5) Study Guides:
~Each students will receive two study guides. The first study guide covers the causes of the American Revolution, including the Stamp Act, the Tea Act, the Intolerable Acts, and the rebellion of the colonists (First and Second Continental Congress, and the writing of the Declaration of Independence). The second study guide covers the South Carolina battles and heroes of the American Revolution including The Battles of Sullivan's Island, Kings Mountain, Cowpens, and Eutaw Springs, as well as William Jasper, Andrew Pickens, Francis Marion, and Thomas Sumter. This study guide also explains the perspectives of different groups of people living in South Carolina during the American Revolution.
~The students will take a quiz on the causes of the American Revolution on the fourth day of the unit. This quiz is two pages and contains fill in the blank vocabulary questions, multiple choice questions, and short answer questions.
7) American Revolution in SC Test:
~This test is three pages and consists of multiple choice questions and spiral review questions.
***You may find that you need more than eleven days to teach this unit. Several of the instructional days can be split into two days worth of instruction if needed.***
